Winn brandished a copy of a 32-year old booklet titled “Cancer at a Crossroads: A Report to Congress for the Nation,” using it as a show-and-tell prop in arguing that America’s cancer program is once again at a crossroads and therefore in urgent need of strategic thinking (The Cancer Letter, April 10, 2026).

A coalition of public health groups sent a formal letter to NIH Director and Acting CDC Director Jay Bhattacharya April 15 highlighting the need for the immediate restoration of full staffing and resources to the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health.

Cancer Center at Illinois is recognized as NCI Basic Cancer Center, becoming the first new institution to earn this designation in 40 years

The Cancer Center at Illinois was designated as a Basic Cancer Center by NCI.
