ALT GOV: The HHS “resistance” on social media

After a sequence of events that unfolded publicly on NCI’s Instagram feed May 28, RIFed and “retired” members of the NCI communications team took to the independent social media platform BlueSky, creating an alternative and anonymous social media presence.

Recently, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted a video montage featuring himself shirtless in jeans, working out with Kid Rock. The duo is in a blue-lit grotto with a cold plunge and sauna. Set to Kid Rock’s “Bawitdaba” and intercut with a selection of patriotic imagery, the video ends with the two men in a hot tub, chugging what appears to be milk.
Leadership is changing at The Wistar Institute and the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute in the months to come—but the leaders of the two institutions say that this will have little if any effect on the clinical-research collaboration that they have spent the past 15years building (The Cancer Letter, July 12, 2019).
