In Brief Dinah Singer named NCI deputy director, scientific strategy & development

Dinah Singer will permanently serve as NCI’s deputy director for scientific strategy and development, NCI Acting Director Douglas Lowy announced June 26.

Singer served as an acting deputy director to carry out the Cancer Moonshot.

Singer has served as director of the Division of Cancer Biology since 1999, while simultaneously serving as senior investigator and chief of the Molecular Regulation Section of the Experimental Immunology Branch in the Center for Cancer Research.

As deputy director for scientific strategy and development, in addition to her continued leadership of NCI’s implementation of the Cancer Moonshot, Singer will continue to oversee NCI’s Center for Research Strategy, the Center for Cancer Training, the Center for Strategic Scientific Initiatives, and the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities.

Singer, along with James Doroshow, NCI deputy director for clinical and translational research, will continue to work closely to take full advantage of the opportunities before the NCI and the cancer research community.

Dan Gallahan will serve as acting director of the Division of Cancer Biology while a search is conducted to fill the position on a permanent basis.
