The following is a transcript of The Cancer Letter podcast’s trailer episode:

Paul Goldberg (00:00): You’re listening to The Cancer Letter podcast. The Cancer Letter is a weekly independent magazine covering oncology since 1973. I am your host, Paul Goldberg, editor and publisher of The Cancer Letter.

Jacquelyn Cobb (00:15): And I’m your host, Jacquelyn Cobb, associate editor of The Cancer Letter. We’ll be bringing you the latest stories, groundbreaking research and critical conversation shaping oncology. This podcast is going to be sort of looking at the headlines of the previous week and going into more depth about what we covered and maybe some more sort of behind the scenes, you know, information. Also, we have the directors podcast series that Paul is spearheading and can talk about a little bit.

Paul Goldberg (00:43): The format’s really is pretty simple. Two directors of cancer centers and I, talking for 30 to 45 minutes.

I realized that really NCI and the National Cancer Program are not really just about the NCI director, but also the directors of each of the designated cancer centers and others, other directors of other centers who want to become a part of academic oncology. And what I wanted to do was allow the directors to speak about what keeps them up at night and not really get so much into politics, but into policy. I don’t know what the difference between politics and policy is, but I’m looking forward to finding out.

Jacquelyn Cobb (01:37): We look forward to bringing you breaking news in oncology every single Wednesday right here on The Cancer Letter Podcast.

Paul Goldberg (01:43): Well, Jacquelyn, it might, since it’s a Wednesday, it might already be broken news. The news would break on Friday.

Jacquelyn Cobb (01:51): [Laugh] We look forward to bringing you broken news every single Wednesday.

Paul Goldberg (01:56): That’s better. [Laugh]
