Researchers at NYU Dentistry’s Pain Research Center have been awarded a five-year, $8 million NIH grant to study signaling mechanisms that generate oral cancer pain. The funding is part of the NIH’s Helping to End Addiction Long-term Initiative, which supports the development of safe and effective therapeutics to treat pain in an effort to end the opioid crisis.
Alexandra Miller, a neurologist and neuro-oncologist specializing in treating primary brain tumors, has been named as the chief of the Division of Neuro-Oncology and co-director of the Brain and Spine Tumor Center at NYU Langone Health’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, effective Jan. 29.
