Loïc Le Marchand was awarded the 2022 American Association for Cancer Research distinguished lectureship on the science of cancer health disparities. Le Marchand will present his award lecture during the opening session of the 15th AACR Conference on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities in Racial/Ethnic Minorities and the Medically Underserved.

Rathmell: My mentor recognized a cliff I was going to fall off before I did.
“He was there to stand with me while I fell, and then made me look up and see that I needed to lean into the experience.”

I was really excited to get to talk about the role that mentorship plays in women’s leadership development. It’s a topic that I’ve thought a lot about, and also that I’ve benefitted from, and that I think is not always applied with enough intention. There is an art to mentorship, and I want to share some of how that has helped me navigate career transitions and pivot to leadership roles.
