“Call-on Congress” convenes advocates, legislators, health officials to rally for better CRC screening rates and outcomes

Fight Colorectal Cancer hosted an advocacy event on the National Mall March 16, “Call-on Congress,” to discuss ways to reduce colorectal cancer incidence, improve treatment, and mitigate health disparities. The event included a flag installation on the Mall to honor those affected by CRC.

Oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy significantly improves survival only in stage 3 colorectal cancer patients aged 70 or younger, according to a study conducted by researchers at Korea University Guro Hospital and Korea University College of Medicine. For patients over 70, the drug offered no survival advantage and led to higher rates of treatment discontinuation due to toxicity.
