UPMC and University of Pittsburgh clinician-scientists have weaned and kept multiple liver transplantation patients off of all immunosuppressant drugs for more than three years through a first-in-human clinical trial of a unique “immune priming” therapy, according to the results of a small, early-stage trial.
The Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Center has entered a partnership with Cancer Hope Network to launch Peer Access to Trials, Hope and Support, a peer-to-peer program that gives patients and caregivers access to one-on-one peer mentorship from trained volunteers who have faced cancer themselves, either as survivors or caregivers.
