Combination immunotherapy + chemo is safe and effective for advanced small cell cancers in bladder and prostate

A research team led by UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center investigators has shown that combining pembrolizumab, an immunotherapy drug, with standard chemotherapy can improve treatment outcomes for patients with small cell bladder cancer and small cell/neuroendocrine prostate cancer.

Researchers from the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center found evidence that simultaneously targeting the innate and adaptive immune systems holds promise for treating aggressive colon cancer cases. People with operable non-small cell lung cancers may fare better over the next few years by receiving immunotherapy treatments before and after surgery instead of only before surgery, according to an analysis by Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center investigators.
