We have good news:

The Cancer Letter Podcast is a nominee for The Webby Awards, which are recognized as the internet’s highest honor.

Launched last year, The Cancer Letter Podcast is one of five candidates in the Science & Education category of The Webbys. The Cancer Letter Podcast includes a monthly segment titled The Directors, hosted by Paul Goldberg, and a weekly news segment called In the Headlines, hosted by Jacquelyn Cobb and Goldberg.

Now comes our ask: Vote for us and help us bag The Webby.

The Cancer Letter has been telling the story of cancer research for over half a century.

In 1973, The Cancer Letter began as an eight-page newsletter that was folded, stuffed in an envelope, and distributed by mail (The Cancer Letter, Dec. 21, 1973).

The Cancer Letter’s format has evolved with the times. Our commitment to truthtelling, reliable, robust reporting, and enthusiasm for good science have kept up with the times as well.

With more than 150,000 unique users per month, we are no longer a small publication. But we are a newcomer to podcasting.

“Every day, I am amazed by the talent and enthusiasm of our team,” said Goldberg, editor and publisher of The Cancer Letter. “It blows our minds to see us go directly from a neighborhood ballpark to the big leagues.”

“This is huge,” said Cobb, associate editor of The Cancer Letter. “We love participating in ‘awards season’ with our traditional reporting every year. But this is something totally new for us. It’s the first time we’ve entered for The Webbys! I am overjoyed.”

The Directors is sponsored by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

ASCO, Stand Up To Cancer, City of Hope, Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, and UK Markey Cancer Center have sponsored individual episodes of In the Headlines.

Established in 1996 during the internet’s infancy, The Webbys is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences—a 3,000+ member judging body.

Last year, nearly 3.6 million votes were cast from 230+ countries and territories worldwide, and the site was visited by over 5 million people.
