Indefinite course of osimertinib dramatically improves PFS in stage 3 EGFR-mutated NSCLC

Treatment with an indefinite course of osimertinib dramatically improves progression-free survival for patients with stage 3 non-small cell cancer, according to the results of the LAURA trial. The median PFS was 39.1 months in the osimertinib group, compared to 5.6 months with the placebo group.

Radiation before mastectomy cuts time delays for reconstructive surgery in breast cancer patients

Researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center showed that altering the sequence of breast cancer treatment to administer radiation before mastectomy allowed for concurrent breast reconstruction surgery, which reduced the number of operations required, minimized treatment delays, and improved patient satisfaction.

UCLA study: High-dose radiotherapy + chemo effective in treating NSCLC

A study led by researchers from the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center showed that using high doses of radiation while integrating an ablative radiotherapy technique called stereotactic ablative radiotherapy concurrently with chemotherapy is safe and effective in treating people with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer that is not suitable for surgery.
