The Hutch, University of Washington, and Seattle Children’s forming a more streamlined union

Two decades ago, when Fred Hutch, the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s formed a consortium, they created the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to serve as a hub of clinical operations.

Earlier this week, the consortium started a process aimed at making way for a closer, direct connection between the three institutions. Under the plan, the SCCA and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center would merge to form Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, an independent, private, not-for-profit organization operating as a clinically integrated part of UW Medicine.
