

Medical Oncologist - Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute

The Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute, part of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and a proud NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) site, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Oncologist to join its growing, multidisciplinary oncology program. This full-time, hospital-employed position is well-suited for junior faculty at the instructor or assistant professor level who are seeking a community-based academic opportunity with national research engagement.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the design and implementation of cooperative group research, influence national cancer policy through NCI Steering Committees and Task Forces, and develop a career portfolio that is highly relevant for national leadership in community oncology or future roles in NCI-designated centers, industry, or the NCI itself.
Key Highlights
- Participate in clinical trials through Alliance, ECOG-ACRIN, SWOG, and NRG, with NCORP-funded travel to group meetings
- Eligible to serve as a community co-chair on cooperative group protocols
- Practice within a collaborative, disease-site-specific or general oncology model
- Integrated team includes APPs, precision medicine, oncology-certified dietitians, nurse navigators, social workers, genetic counselors, oncology rehabilitation, palliative care, and survivorship support
- Six regional infusion centers across the Upstate
- Institutional support for cooperative group involvement

Minimum Qualifications
- MD or DO with completion of ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology
- Board eligible or board certified in Medical Oncology
- Eligible for medical licensure in South Carolina
