President Biden intends to appoint six members to the National Cancer Advisory Board.
Jordan Berlin, Ingram Professor of Cancer Research, was named director of Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Division of Hematology and Oncology. Previously, Berlin was interim director for six months.
Michael Taylor was named director of the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Research Program at Texas Children’s Hospital and at Baylor College of Medicine.
Kimberly A. Curseen was named director of the Palliative Medicine Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Priyamvada Rai was named Tumor Biology Research Program co-leader at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UHealth—University of Miami Health System.
Vani Simmons, co-director of Moffitt Cancer Center’s Tobacco Research and Intervention Program, received the 2023 American Society of Preventive Oncology’s Joseph W. Cullen Memorial Award. The award will be presented during the ASPO 47th Annual Meeting, March 12-14, in San Diego.
Mitchell Fane was named assistant professor in the Cancer Signaling and Microenvironment research program at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Idalid Franco, Sophia Kamran, and Anwaar Saeed were named health equity fellows by NRG Oncology, an NCI National Clinical Trials Network group, as a part of the organization’s Health Equity Fellowship Program. Fellows receive an award of $50,000 for two years with an end result of developing a new research protocol within NRG Oncology.
