Freelance Illustrator

The Cancer Letter is seeking illustration portfolios for editorial illustrators to be featured in the digital publication. This is a paid freelance opportunity, assigned on a per-piece rate.

We are seeking illustrators who are confident in their style and are comfortable working with us on an as-needed basis. 

The Cancer Letter is a weekly digital news publication that reaches oncology professionals, and often features bright, abstracted artwork as well as portraiture, medical illustrations, and more. Examples of our award-winning illustration and design work are available here: 2022, 2021

We strongly encourage illustrators with diverse perspectives to apply.

Requirements

  • An illustration portfolio that shows a strong aesthetic or point of view
  • Ability to deliver high-quality art digitally, in 3 cropped sizes
  • Ability to meet a Friday 12 PM EST deadline

Nice to have:

  • Interest in some of our coverage areas (ie: healthcare, policy, health equity, cancer, drug development & regulation…)
  • Some experience with medical, government, or regulatory topics would be a plus, as an artist or otherwise
  • Occasional flexible availability on Thursday or Friday for last-minute requests
