MD Anderson Cancer Center President Peter W.T. Pisters challenged Selwyn M. Vickers, president and CEO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, to a friendly Twitter bet.

With the teams of their respective cities, the Astros and the Yankees, competing in the baseball American League Championship Series for a shot at the World Series, Pisters proposed that the loser buy dinner and wear the opposing team’s gear during the meal.

“With @Astros vs. @Yankees in the #ALCS—representing our outstanding cities and cancer centers, @MDAndersonNews and @MSKCancerCenter—how about a fun challenge? If we win, dinner is on you and you wear Astros gear of my choice? #EndCancer” Pisters proposed on Twitter on Oct. 19.

MSK’s Vickers responded, also in a tweet, “You’re on, though I have a feeling you’ll be sporting some @Yankees garb to our celebratory dinner! Looking forward to ending cancer with

@MSKCancerCenter and @MDAndersonNews leading the way.”

MSK’s Twitter account chimed in, “@DrVickersMSK now we’re really looking forward to this series. Let’s go @Yankees!”

MD Anderson’s response: “We love some friendly competition—and a great baseball series. Can’t wait to see @DrVickersMSK in Astros gear. Go, @Astros!”

The Astros won the Oct. 19 game 4-2.
