Caligiuri named president of City of Hope National Medical Center

Michael Caligiuri was named physician-in-chief of City of Hope and president of City of Hope National Medical Center.

Caligiuri recently stepped down as director of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and as CEO of the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (The Cancer Letter, Nov. 17).

He will join City of Hope in this newly created position next February. The appointment was announced on Nov. 28.

“I was ready for a new opportunity,” Caligiuri, who serves as president of the American Association for Cancer Research, said to The Cancer Letter. “I’ve always had an interest in City of Hope, and Steve Rosen [provost and chief scientific officer for City of Hope and director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center] has always been poking at me to come take a look but things really didn’t take off until I made the decision to resign from my position at OSU, so, very recent.”
