Califf, Bach, Jasin, Offit, Venter Among New Members of NAM
The National Academy of Medicine announced today the election of 70 regular members and nine international members during its annual meeting.
The NAM Articles of Organization stipulate that at least one-quarter of the membership is selected from fields outside the health professions.
The newly elected members raise NAM’s total active membership to 1,947 and the number of international members to 146.
The following new members work in cancer-related fields:
Cheryl Ann Marie Anderson, associate professor, family medicine and public health, University of California, San Diego
Peter Bach, director, Center for Health Policy and Outcomes, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Bonnie Bassler, investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute; and Squibb Professor and chair, department of molecular biology, Princeton University
Andrew Bazemore, director, Robert Graham Center for Policy Studies in Family Medicine and Primary Care, Washington, D.C.
Stefano Bertozzi, dean, School of Public Health, and professor, health and policy management, University of California, Berkeley
Leslie Glenn Biesecker, senior investigator and chief of the medical genomics and metabolic genetics branch, National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health
Malcolm Brenner, Fayez Sarofim Distinguished Service Professor, founding director, Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, and professor, departments of medicine, pediatrics, and molecular and human genetics, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston
